Who we are...
Bridgnorth Lions Club is made up of a group of like-minded men and exists to help those in the community who are disadvantaged or in need of help.
Since 1976 we have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds, all from Bridgnorth and the surrounding area, and every penny has been used to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Our club is part of Lions Clubs International, a global non-profit organisation founded in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. It is the world's largest service club organization, with over 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

History
Bridgnorth Lions was formed in 1976 by four men as a male-only club, although these days the welcome support of wives, girlfriends and partners ensures our work can happen.
It has blossomed to a current membership of 25, raising funds and donating to lots of causes, mainly in Bridgnorth and surrounding areas; and organising major events in the town such as the famous Bridgnorth Walk, the annual Duck Race and Prostate Testing.
Local Focus but International Reach
Because we are local, we serve the unique needs of our community.
But as part of the global network, we can address international challenges such as help for earthquake victims or other natural disasters wherever they occur.
However, day to day, most of our work is centred around the local community.
Membership
Being part of Bridgnorth Lions means making a commitment to help in your local community. And we organise the Club to make sure we can do that successfully.
Each month (usually 2nd Tuesday evening), we hold a formal business meeting, currently at The Down Inn, near Bridgnorth.
But the real work is taken on by the Committees. Every Member is part of a committee, each with a focus on Fundraising, Targeting Welfare Support or organising Social Activities.
You can read more about the work of our different Committees here
So, what’s in it for me? If you ask any of our members, they'd say that having fun while helping their community, is what it's all about - from supporting locals with problems, organising the annual prostate cancer testing (PSA) event or the renowned Bridgnorth Walk & Marathon.
Your Lions journey starts here
Community. Service. Bringing passionate, kind-hearted people together to serve local needs: that’s what Lions clubs are doing in more than 200 countries around the world.
Lions see a problem and take action to solve it.
They seek to understand one another and the people they serve. They build relationships that lead to opportunities. In short, when Lions serve, life improves.
