What We Do
We rely on the generosity and support of local businesses and the wider community
The Bridgnorth Lions raise funds which are then distributed to various groups and individuals within the local community. We do this by organising a variety of events throughout the year and relying on the goodwill of the community, businesses, and visitors to support us.
Who We Are
The current 2024/25 committee members are Nick Crowe, Chris Luty, John Woodfield, Neill Flannery, Mike Swales, Peter Parker and Howatrd Davies.
How We Do It
How We Do It
The Bridgnorth Lions year runs from July to June, and throughout, we organise a variety of different initiatives, encouraging the local community to support our good causes. Many events are established, and well loved by residents, having run for many years.
Things coming up include……
- A Summer/Autumn Draw. So be on the lookout! This year has a bumper set of prizes.
- A Bottle and Straw Draw on the Bridgnorth Lions Stand at the Bridgnorth Lights Switch On.
- Christmas Hampers at various local outlets
- Easter Hampers
- The Bridgnorth Walk & Marathon, organised by the Walk Sub-Committee, that takes place on Early May Bank Holiday
- The Duck Race a great fun event, held on Bridgnorth Carnival Sunday on the river in Low Town
- Plus, bucket rattling and donation pots throughout the year
Looking Forward
It’s the drive and commitment of the Fundraising Committee Members and the wider Bridgnorth Lions that generate some great ideas (plus some not so great!). So, looking forward we are developing some brand-new events. Make sure you keep a look out around town to see what’s coming up, like ……
- An evening with Will Farmer (BBC Antiques Roadshow)
- Bed Push Race
- Pancake Race
- Space Hopper Racing
- Pogo stick Racing
- Remember the 70’s/80’s Night
- Virtual Treasure Hunt
- Lions Comedy Club Evening
- Cheese Rolling
The list grows but we would love to hear your suggestions –they can’t be any worse than ours!
Your Lions journey starts here
Community. Service. Bringing passionate, kind-hearted people together to serve local needs: that’s what Lions clubs are doing in more than 200 countries around the world.
Lions see a problem and take action to solve it.
They seek to understand one another and the people they serve. They build relationships that lead to opportunities. In short, when Lions serve, life improves.
