Supporting Local Causes
The Bridgnorth Lions Welfare Committee is central to the work of the Club locally, regionally and internationally.
Our Committee adopts the defination from Lions Club International ...
Our mission is to empower Lions members, volunteers and partners to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian service and grants that impact lives locally and globally, and encourage peace and international understanding. And we fulfill it every day, everywhere we serve.
The role of the Committee is to review and discuss applications made from good causes and decide what level of support the Club can provide.
Committee meetings often spark a healthy level of debate, ensuring that support is always targeted at those in the most need and provided in a way to ensure the greatest impact.
Proposals and recommendations made by the Welfare Committee are put to the full membership and voted for approval.
Since 2022, the Club has distributed over £60,000 to good causes.
Locally we have supported Severn Hospice, Northgate Swimming Club, Bridgnorth Boxing Academy and Bridgnorth Canoe Club amongst many others.
We arrange and fund events for local Seniors, as well as supporting local community groups like Bridgnorth Litter Pickers, helping to make our town a jewel on the severn.
Further afield, we have aided international appeals to support flood relief in Pakistan and helped to build a school in Gambia. The Welfare Committee also organise and fund regular trips and events for local people less fortunate that ourselves.
Can We Help Your Organisation?
We are continually looking to support local organisations and charities who help the people of Bridgnorth and its surrounding areas.
Already we help all sorts of groups. From those who volunteer to keep our community clean and tidy, local sports clubs for kids and adults and those who provide valuable support for the more vulnerable in our community.
If you feel your organisation could benefit from the support of Bridgnorth Lions Club, please complete our Grant Application Form.
We will consider each application on its merits and may need additional information before making an Award Decision. Whilst we would like to help every local group, like every organisation, Bridgnorth Lions has limited resources so unfortunately we will not be able to support every application.
Your Lions journey starts here
Community. Service. Bringing passionate, kind-hearted people together to serve local needs: that’s what Lions clubs are doing in more than 200 countries around the world.
Lions see a problem and take action to solve it.
They seek to understand one another and the people they serve. They build relationships that lead to opportunities. In short, when Lions serve, life improves.
