Supported By Stephen Buttler

Eight Times Guinness World Record Holder

This years theme is “Be your own Champion” which represents having a strong belief in yourself, the  benefits of a positive attitude and ultimately being a winner in all you do.

2024 sees the Lions teaming up with Hope House and Stephen Buttler to raise funds and awareness for the local Shropshire Children’s Hospice.

This year sees a local resident Mr Stephen Buttler competing in the Walk with the added difficulty of carrying an additional 3 stone wight on his back for the entirety of the 22 mile course.

Stephen has an autistic 5 year old boy and has worked with Hope House before to raise funds.

Stephen is an interesting character in that he has previously set a number of world records for a variety of tasks such as press ups, squats on a ball and other quirky fitness related activities.

All About The Walk & Marathon

The Bridgnorth Walk was established in 1967 as a way of raising money for local, national and international charities. In 2017 Bridgnorth Lions took over as organisers.

The event regularly raises over £100,000 for good causes and attracts both competitive and weekend walkers who enjoy a wonderful community atmosphere.

In 2019 Bridgnorth Lions announced a major expansion to the Walk weekend by adding a Marathon for runners.

The challenging but rewarding route takes in some of the most beautiful Shropshire countryside, including a visit to the top of the 1770 foot high Brown Clee.

For those less competitive, the short Junior and Family Walks offer an alternative.

Starting at Cleobury North just outside Bridgnorth, the Family and Junior Walks are two separate, shorter events, that share some of the same route.

The Junior 7-mile route visits the very top of the Brown Clee, accompanied by Cycle Outriders. With a water station every mile, this is a safe but strenuous event, for those aged 9 – 14.

The all-age Family Walk takes you though some of the most stunning Shropshire countryside. This relaxing 5 mile on-road route draws you along picturesque country lanes. And without the strenuous Brown Clee section, it’s more of an opportunity to stretch your legs, rather than anything more challenging.
