Recycling
The Lions Club is involved in various community projects and initiatives, one of which is recycling.
The club works to promote and encourage recycling in the local area and supports several different programs.
One of our main initiatives is the collection and recycling of used eyeglasses.
The club collects used eyeglasses from local residents, which are then sorted and cleaned before being sent to developing countries, where they are distributed to people who cannot afford new glasses.
Through the club, we have been collecting and recycling items for many years. For instance, well over 13,000 pairs of spectacles have been collected, with almost 3000 pairs received in the last year alone. Donated glasses are resorted and graded and shipped to many countries around the world, such as Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Nigeria and Nepal.
Your Lions journey starts here
Community. Service. Bringing passionate, kind-hearted people together to serve local needs: that’s what Lions clubs are doing in more than 200 countries around the world.
Lions see a problem and take action to solve it.
They seek to understand one another and the people they serve. They build relationships that lead to opportunities. In short, when Lions serve, life improves.
