Confirmation Of Booking Is Acceptance Of These Rules & Conditions.
Please read this Agreement carefully as acceptance of its terms are a condition of booking.
This is a legally binding Agreement and by confirming your acceptance at the booking stage (Tick Box Confirmation on StuWeb site) you confirm acceptance of this Agreement and agree to be bound by its terms including clauses 11 - 15 with regards our limitation of liability to Participants.
In consideration and as a condition of being allowed to participate in the Bridgnorth Lions Club Marathon, Metric Marathon, Adult Walk, Junior Walk or Family Walk and any other related activities (the “Event”) provided by Bridgnorth Lions Club and its members, officers, directors, volunteers, participants, independent contractors, insurers, facility operators, land and/or premises owners and any other persons and entities acting in any capacity on its behalf (collectively referred to herein as “Bridgnorth Lions Club”), I hereby acknowledge and agree to the following:
- I am an adult aged eighteen years or older and understand that this Agreement will govern the actions and responsibilities of all Participants whilst participating in the Event.
- I confirm that the Participant’s full name and age have been confirmed in the Event Booking and that, in the case of Participants aged under 18 I am the parent/guardian of that Participant, or I warrant that the Participant’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have granted permission for me to assume responsibility for that Participant (“Responsible Adult”) and for me to have the right to enter into this Agreement on their behalf. When entering on behalf of other Participants (as lead booker or otherwise) I agree that it is my responsibility to ensure that all Participants have seen a copy of and agree to the terms of this Agreement and all other health and safety information and other instructions communicated by Bridgnorth Lions Club.
- I acknowledge and agree that participation in the Event is voluntary, and I am acting under my own free will and/or on behalf of the Participant in my capacity as parent/guardian or Responsible Adult.
- I acknowledge that participation may be physically demanding and that the risk of injury from the Event is significant, including the potential for serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis and loss of life. I also acknowledge that even if Bridgnorth Lions Club are not negligent, then the risk of injury still exists as the risks cannot be eliminated entirely without jeopardising the essential qualities of the Event.
- The Event will be held on public roads which are open to the public during the Event and upon which associated hazards to Participants are possible.
- I acknowledge that there is potential for risks and dangers that may not be obvious or reasonably foreseeable at this time.
- To reduce the risks, I agree to ensure that I am and/or have made the Participant aware of the rules established for participating in the Event, including the rules posted below and ensure that I (or the Participant) understand these rules and the importance of following them and as far as I (they) reasonably can, to procure that the Participant follows these rules and any other reasonable instructions given on the day of the Event by Event officials.
- I certify that I am, or the Participant is fit and well enough to participate in the Event and has no medical conditions or health concerns that could make it dangerous to participate in the Event in a safe manner for the Participant or others. If I have any concerns regarding my or the Participant’s health then I will inform Bridgnorth Lions Club as soon as possible and seek appropriate medical advice before participating in the Event. I will notify Bridgnorth Lions Club immediately if my or the Participant’s health changes.
- I accept full responsibility for my and/or the Participant’s conduct and actions whilst participating in the Event.
- I consent to receive treatment that may be deemed advisable and/or necessary in the event of injury, accident and/or illness as a result of participating in the Event.
- Subject to clause 15 and in the event that Bridgnorth Lions Club is in breach of its obligations (under this Agreement or otherwise) Bridgnorth Lions Club shall only be responsible for any foreseeable loss or damage that a Participant may suffer as a result of Bridgnorth Lions Club’s breach. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence of Bridgnorth Lions Club’s breach or negligence or if it is contemplated by the parties when this Agreement is made. Bridgnorth Lions Club will not be responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
- Subject to clause 15, Bridgnorth Lions Club is not liable for any business losses and will have no liability to a Participant for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.
- Subject to clause 15, Bridgnorth shall not be liable to a Participant for any indirect or consequential loss or damage, such as loss of enjoyment or travel or accommodation costs and expenses regardless of whether such loss or damage (a) would arise in the ordinary course of events, (b) is reasonably foreseeable or (c) is in the contemplation of the parties, or otherwise.
- Subject to clause 15, Bridgnorth Lions Club shall not be liable for any delay or failure in the performance of its obligations for so long as and to the extent that such delay or failure results from events, circumstances or causes beyond its reasonable control.
- Nothing in this Agreement is intended to or will exclude or limit Bridgnorth Lions Club’s liability for death or personal injury caused by Bridgnorth Lions Club’s negligence or for any other matter for which it is not possible to exclude or limit liability for by applicable law.
- Bridgnorth Lions Club and/or any third parties appointed thereby may take photographs or digital recordings of the Participant participating in the Event and I consent and agree to the publication of such photographs, recordings and/or likenesses of the Participant (whether edited, adapted or copied) and their use by Bridgnorth Lions Club in perpetuity or for the maximum term permitted under law, without prior notice to inspect or approve the use or without compensation or other remuneration, which Bridgnorth Lions Club may see fit now or in the future (including use by commercial partners and accredited media organisations). I further consent that the Participant’s identity may be revealed therein or by description, text or commentary.
- Bridgnorth Lions Club is under no obligation to hold the Event and may cancel the Event or make alterations to the time, date and/or location of the Event, for reasons beyond its reasonable control or otherwise. In such circumstances Bridgnorth Lions Club shall:
- provide as much notice to Participants as is reasonable practicable; and
- provide Participants with either a refund of any entry fee paid or permit deferment to the next available Event.
- Bridgnorth Lions Club shall have no responsibility for any losses, expenses or costs incurred as a result of cancellation or alterations to the time, date and/or location of the Event, including but not limited to any travel or accommodation costs.

- If a court invalidates some of this Agreement, the rest of it will still apply. If a court or other authority decides that some of these terms are unlawful, the rest will continue to apply.
- This Agreement is governed by English law and wherever you live you can bring claims against us in the English courts. If you live in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims against us in the courts of the country you live in. We can claim against you in the courts of the country you live in.
I certify that I have read this Agreement and fully understand its content and am aware that by entering to participate in the Event I am bound by the terms and conditions above.
Rules for All Walkers
All Walkers enter at their own risk and must comply with the following:
- Due to safety restrictions on numbers of walkers on the road at any one time, no-one shall be allowed to walk without official number cards prominently displayed.
- Walkers must read and follow the safety instructions provided.
- Walkers may set their own pace BUT THERE MUST BE NO RUNNING (See the instructions supplied regarding walking rules). Walkers must walk at all times on the left hand side of the road to Cleobury North and then the right hand side of the road when there is no pavement.
- Walkers are asked not to leave any litter on the course, but to use the bins provided at each checkpoint.
- Teams can consist of 2 or more walkers. These can be a combination of Senior and Junior walk entrants.
- There is strictly no smoking allowed whilst walking on the Brown Clee Hill. Access to the Brown Clee Hill is provided by permission of Burwarton Estates and Clee St Margarets Parish Council.
- At the end of the Walk, when approaching the Finishing Point, please display your number prominently so that the marshals and commentator can identify you.
- Walkers are responsible for paying their sponsor money to their nominated charity either directly or via their team leader.
- For safety reasons dogs are not encouraged on the Bridgnorth Walk. However, if dogs do participate, they must be kept on a lead at all times.
Rules Specific To Senior/Adult Walks
- Entrants for the Senior Walks must be aged 15 years or over.
- In order to cover the costs of organising the event, each walker must pay an entry fee which is not refundable in the event of anyone withdrawing from the walk before the start.
- Walk Numbers will be issued on the day of the Walk, please arrive in good time to collect them.
- Anyone adjudged to have been running will be penalised and allowed to complete the walk, but anyone disqualified from the race contest will not qualify for a trophy or prize. Scrutineers will be utilised to give judgement should any query arise.
- Walkers aged 50 or over may, if they wish, take the amended course by turning downhill at Checkpoint 10, thus avoiding the walk over the summit.
- There is no need to bring your sponsor form(s) with you on the day, all we will need is the name of your chosen charity and an indication of how much you have raised.
Rules Specific To Junior Walks
- In order to cover the costs of organising the event, each junior walker must pay an entry fee which is not refundable in the event of anyone withdrawing from the walk before the start.
- Entrants for the Junior Walk must be aged at least 9 and less than 15 on the day of the Walk.
- There is no need to bring your sponsor form(s) with you on the day, all we will need is the name of your chosen charity and an indication of how much you have raised.
- Walk Numbers will be issued on the day of the Walk, please arrive in good time to collect
Rules For All Marathon Runners
The Race
- The name of the event is “Bridgnorth Lions Marathons,” hereafter also referred to as “The Race” or “The Event.”
- Bridgnorth Lions Club are organizing the Event, and will hereafter be referred to as The “Organisers” or the “Organisation.”
- The Race Director is the highest authority in The Event.
- The race distance for the Event is 43.02km. The route has been established on Tarmac Roads, Forest Trails and Gravel Tracks.
- The event is based on the concept of a life experience in a natural environment, integrating sport, healthy living and conservation. It is organized with the greatest respect for the environment.
- All entry fees are non-refundable (subject to clause 17 above) and the organisers retain the right to refuse entry to anyone declaring false information on their entry form, not making the required payment, or otherwise failing to meet the stated entry requirements.
- No prize money will be awarded.
Participation
- The minimum age to participate in the distance of 43.02km is 18 years old on the day of the event
- Running a marathon requires a high level of physical fitness. To enrol in the Bridgnorth Lions Marathon, the runner accepts and understands that he/she must have the physical fitness suitable for a test of this kind, by the day of the race.
- The participant takes part in the event voluntarily, assuming all of the responsibility for his/her activities, actions, belongings, health, and physical and psychological integrity.
- The number and corresponding timing chip are registered only in the name of the registrant, and cannot be exchanged once they are collected at kit pick-up.
- The Organization reserves the right to disqualify any runner that does not use his/her number during the race.
- Only the runners who complete the race will receive a Finisher Medal for having reached the finish line and completing the Bridgnorth Lions Marathon.

He or she explicitly renounces all responsibility, and thus waives the ability to make any claim against the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and/or representatives thereof, with regard to any damages, including, but not limited to, the following: physical pain, morals, thefts, misplacements/lost items, or any other incident he or she could suffer personally or have occur to a third-party member, his/her friends, or belongings before, during, or after the event.
- The number and corresponding timing chip are registered only in the name of the registrant, and cannot be exchanged once they are collected at kit pick-up.
- The Organization reserves the right to disqualify any runner that does not use his/her number during the race.
- Only the runners who complete the race will receive a Finisher Medal for having reached the finish line and completing the Bridgnorth Lions Marathon.
- Nothing in this Agreement shall affect our liability for death or personal injury, fraud, or any other liability to the extent it cannot be excluded or limited by law.
